The NCSC provides quality technical assistance, training, research and cutting-edge technologies that further the integrity and efficiency of justice systems and the broader government.  Guided by a board of representatives of the U.S. state courts and the private sector, and closely associated with a network of key U.S. and international justice-sector professional organizations, the NCSC creatively applies the historic experiences from the U.S. and from justice systems worldwide to assist in building sustainable institutions of justice around the globe, even in the most challenging environments.  More...

Kosovo Justice Support Program (KJSP) Highlights November 2008 USAID Support – Since 2001, the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) has worked to support the development of the judicial system in Kosovo. Building on previous assistance to the judiciary, USAID launched the Kosovo Justice Support Program (KJSP) in July 2007. KJSP is a 3-year, 19.5 million USD program targeting six objectives: 1. Improve the capacity of the Kosovo Judicial Council (KJC) in support of an independent judiciary 2. Improve Court Administration 3. Improve Professionalism and Ethics of Judges and Court Staff 4. Support for minority service and representation of minorities in the judiciary 5. Develop Ministry of Justice (MOJ) legal drafting, policy formulation and guidance skills 6. In-ACCE Change Management Success Story In cooperation with the Supreme Court of Indonesia, USAID’s Indonesia Anticorruption and Commercial Court Enhancement (In-ACCE) Project is creating an automated case management system for Indonesia’s Anticorruption and Commercial Courts. The implementation of automation is a significant leap forward for Indonesia’s judiciary, and, as with any significant change in an organization, the judiciary is working hard to manage the transformation. To assist in this transition, the In-ACCE Project hosted a Change Management Workshop for key judges and court staff from the project’s five model courts on October 22-25 in Bali. Indonesia Justice Sector Reform Program (JSRP) Indonesia (September 2006 – September 2009) NCSC is a partner with The Asia Foundation (TAF) on the Justice Sector Reform Program (JSRP) awarded by USAID/Indonesia. The focus of this project is to work with the Attorney General's Office in support of modern and accountable prosecutorial services. The Attorney General recently launched a series of directives that serve as the official command to move forward with reform efforts in designated areas. NCSC is providing organizational reform and change management assistance to the AGO in support of these reforms. As part of this effort, NCSC’s long-term advisor, posted to Jakarta, developed a pioneering training and education program for senior prosecutors. This “Refresher Course” is designed to instill the new skills and values that are essential to inculcating reforms throughout the organization.Posted:September 5, 2008 -

Kosovo E-news 15 - October 24  October 28, 2008 -  USAID/Kosovo's October 2008 Newsletter "E-NEWS" featured the launch of the Initial Legal Education Program (ILEP), part of NCSC's Kosovo Judicial Strengthening Project (KJSP). The launch marks an important step for the Kosovo Judicial Institute (KJI), which is responsible for training judicial and prosecutorial candidates and judicial support personnel.
